In so many ways, digital technology has revolutionized our everyday lives, and dentistry is no different. At Fabey Dental, we're proud to use the most cutting-edge dental technology at our practice because we know it improves both treatment outcomes and patient comfort. This means that getting the dental care you need is a less stressful process. Here are a few of the state-of-the-art technologies we employ in our practice.
Digital Radiographs
Many people are concerned about radiation exposure when they hear they need x-rays (also known as radiographs). Patients who refuse dental x-rays year after year are more likely to develop major dental problems because we are unable to detect tooth decay and other abnormalities early on, while easy to treat. Digital radiographs allow us to obtain the imaging we need to offer proactive dental treatment while emitting far less radiation than traditional x-rays.
Furthermore, digital radiographs are a greener option that helps our practice reduce our environmental footprint because they do not require the use of film or developer. These radiographs are also more useful from a diagnostic standpoint because they allow us to pull up your imaging on our computers with a click of a mouse, send them to other specialists, and enlarge and zoom in on images as needed to get a closer look.
Cone Beam Scanner 3D Imaging
Cone beam technology gives us the ability to see a digital tomographic three-dimensional view of any area of the mouth. Like digital radiographs, our cone beam scanner provides more detailed images, all with less radiation than traditional x-rays. Unlike two-dimensional x-rays, cone beam scanner 3D imaging provides us with a 360-degree picture of each tooth, as well as the surrounding tissue and bone. This imaging is painless and quick, and it allows for more precise treatment planning for a variety of dental procedures.
Digital Intraoral Cameras
Digital intraoral cameras capture detailed images and video of your mouth and teeth, which can be viewed on a screen in real-time. These images give your dentist a better view of the inside of your mouth, and by reviewing the images and videos together with your dentist, you’ll have the opportunity to better understand any concerns or treatments that are needed.
Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
You don't have to be that old to recall the big filing cabinets that used to be located behind every dentist's reception area. A manila folder with your treatment records, personal information, and notes was pulled from the cabinet every time you went in for a visit. It may be hard to believe, but some dental practices still keep all of their patient records on paper!
We employ a cutting-edge electronic medical records system that allows us to access your information quickly and removes the need for paper treatment records and notes. This is also far more secure than storing paper records, preserving patient privacy. With electronic medical records, we can send records to your insurance company or another specialist in a matter of seconds.
